Hannah collapses on stage in the middle of a performance. But it’s not just a physical problem that she struggles with. It’s something deep within her that she doesn’t understand, but can’t seem to get rid of.
It begins to make sense when her parents tell her that she was adopted, and that she is alive because of a failed abortion.
This shocking revelation puts her on a quest to find her birth mother.
She is persuaded to join a group of “friends” on a road trip. But the only reason she agrees to go is because it would help her get to the city where she was born. Maybe then she could find her birth mother.
Hannah’s adoptive parents love her deeply, but they don’t always know how to show it.
Her friend, Jason, continues to support and encourage her, regardless of the cost to himself. But he doesn’t realize that he truly loves her.
Some of Hannah’s well-meaning, but somewhat bumbly (for lack of a better word) friends try to help or offer advice — like telling Jason, “Dude, her dad’s gonna kill you, man!”
October Baby will tug on your heart, but will also make you laugh!
After it’s over, it’s still not over. There are some short “behind the scenes” videos during the credits section at the end. If you haven’t reached for the tissue box yet… you might want to have it handy.
Oh, one more thing. Gianna Jessen sings one of the songs on the movie soundtrack. Gianna herself is an abortion survivor.
The October Baby DVD is available on Amazon (Amazon Affiliate link).
But an even better way to watch it is to sign up for a free month with PureFlix. After signing up, just search for October Baby.
Update on 2/2/19: I have realized that a lot of people haven’t heard of PureFlix before, so I wrote an article about it, comparing PureFlix with Netflix. Click here to find out more.
