October Baby movie“I’m starting to think that I shouldn’t have found out about all this.”
“Why have you always been there for me?”

Hannah collapses on stage in the middle of a performance. But it’s not just a physical problem that she struggles with. It’s something deep within her that she doesn’t understand, but can’t seem to get rid of.

It begins to make sense when her parents tell her that she was adopted, and that she is alive because of a failed abortion.

This shocking revelation puts her on a quest to find her birth mother.

She is persuaded to join a group of “friends” on a road trip. But the only reason she agrees to go is because it would help her get to the city where she was born. Maybe then she could find her birth mother.

Hannah’s adoptive parents love her deeply, but they don’t always know how to show it.

Her friend, Jason, continues to support and encourage her, regardless of the cost to himself. But he doesn’t realize that he truly loves her.

Some of Hannah’s well-meaning, but somewhat bumbly (for lack of a better word) friends try to help or offer advice — like telling Jason, “Dude, her dad’s gonna kill you, man!”

October Baby will tug on your heart, but will also make you laugh!

After it’s over, it’s still not over. There are some short “behind the scenes” videos during the credits section at the end. If you haven’t reached for the tissue box yet… you might want to have it handy.

Oh, one more thing. Gianna Jessen sings one of the songs on the movie soundtrack. Gianna herself is an abortion survivor.

The October Baby DVD is available on Amazon (Amazon Affiliate link).

But an even better way to watch it is to sign up for a free month with PureFlix. After signing up, just search for October Baby.

Update on 2/2/19: I have realized that a lot of people haven’t heard of PureFlix before, so I wrote an article about it, comparing PureFlix with Netflix. Click here to find out more.

This does look like my girlfriends type of movie.  We watch so many movies all the time.  However, I haven’t ever heard of Pureflix.  I currently have Amazon Movies, Netflix, and Sling Tv.  But, how much is Pureflix?  Also, does it work on tablets.  I do watch a handful of movies on my iPad.

How do you think it compares to Netflix, Sling TV and Amazon Movies?

After your free month, PureFlix is $10.99 USD per month, or $99.99 USD per year (saving 24%).

To watch PureFlix movies on a tablet, you would download the “PURE FLIX” app (which is free), and log in to your PureFlix account. In order to sign up at the beginning, you would do that through a laptop or desktop computer. Then get the app after you’re signed up. After that, you can sign in any time with the app.

The big difference between Pureflix and Netflix or others is that the movies on Pureflix are more moral and family friendly. Of course, there would be good movies on Netflix as well, but the good ones are what characterize Pureflix.

    Hello Danette,

It was a very good review of the movie.  It does sound like it is a very moving movie.  From the review the movie, the plot sounds like it will be good.

I haven’t heard of Pureflix before.  Is it something like Netflix? Is there a lot of movies on Pureflix? The first month free is a good idea. I think I’ll go check it out.

PureFlix is similar to NetFlix, but what characterizes PureFlix is their family friendliness. With NetFlix, you have to look for what would be good to watch. With PureFlix, if our kids are watching something we haven’t seen before, we’re not wondering if it’s okay. There are thousands of movies and TV shows on PureFlix.

Well this is new to me.  I have never heard of Pureflix before.  Unfortunately since Netflix so many new streaming options have been made available that it really is hard to decide what is good and what isnt.  The fact of the matter is that Netflix is very good but it seems like every 2 months the price is going up and for that reason I am on the hunt for alternatives so I will for sure be taking a closer look at Pureflix.

Thank you for the great review

You’re welcome. I think Pureflix is a good deal economically. For the $10.99 USD per month, you can have up to 5 screens going at the same time. (A very small number of movies will be restricted to 3 screens, but most of them allow 5.) And the annual rate is even better, at $99.99 per year, which comes out to an equivalent of $8.33 per month.

Is Pureflix something quite new? I’ve not heard of it before, only Netflix. Being in Australia I wouldn’t get access to Pureflix at this point anyway. Hopefully at some point it will come. It took us a bit longer to get Netflix too. It sounds like, based on the comments here, that it would be a good family friendly option. That’s important as there is content on Netflix that isn’t appropriate for the younger ones.

Thanks for sharing! And the movie sounds like one I’d enjoy 🙂

PureFlix began online streaming in 2015. Netflix began streaming in 2007.

I do hope that more people hear about PureFlix, because it does have such good family friendly movies. Yes, I hope it makes it to Australia, too!

I am still exploring your website Danette. I really love your website design and the work you put into for now. Never heard about October Baby before. The plot is very interesting. Reminds of that movie with Halle Berry where she played mother who gave up his son because of her crack habits.

I am really interested to find out what happens at the end in Ocotber Baby to be honest with you. Stories like these keep your attention until the final reveal.

    Thank you for this recommendation.

That is usually the kind of movie my wife likes to watch, an well I have learned to love them as well, even if I don’t admit it publicly 🙂  I guess I just did!  I like the plot and the way you wrote the review, it leaves us wanting more.

Now Pureflix! This is the first time I hear about them.  I checked out their page and I see that they have an annual plan which works out to about the same price as what I pay for Netflix right now.  Do they have a wide variety of movies like Netflix ?  With so many choices nowadays (Google play, Amazon Prime, Crave TV, etc.) is Pureflix a competitor to these big guys and is there an advantage of signing up with them?

edited January 31, 2019 — I would say PureFlix is definitely a competitor. They do have a wide variety of titles. Although they have less than half the number of titles that Netflix has (for the U.S. and Canada), PureFlix has wholesome, family-friendly titles that you can learn from and benefit from, as well as enjoying some entertainment.

You’re welcome, Clement. I hope you can get this movie through Amazon, and watch it. Be sure to watch to the very end (into the credits section), because there is a special added part after the movie itself that you won’t want to miss!

Sounds like a great movie, but one for my wife and not for me, I prefer a different kind of movie.

We currently have Netflix and I the whole family has their own account, though the price seems to be increasing slowly but steadily! The good thing about Netflix is the child safety features I can put in place, wondering if you can also have multiple accounts and the same control with PureFlix?

Those are very good questions, Bryan!

With PureFlix, you can use the same account on five different devices simultaneously. So you would only need multiple accounts if you have more than five people in your family.

Also PureFlix is characterized by the fact that they have family-friendly movies. A few of the movies do have a parental warning, because you may not want very young kids to watch it. (Think of it like this — Sometimes you wouldn’t want young kids to watch the news either.) But overall, you’re not going to have the same problem that you have with Netflix which necessitates the child safety features. This article on the comparison between PureFlix and Netflix should help.

The review of the movie “October Baby” is something I certainly would love to watch.

It is, almost, getting rare to watch these kinds of movies on TV or elsewhere, so I thought.

I never heard of PureFlix but the way you described it it is certainly something I will enjoy 100%.

Thanks for mention that you also have written about PureFlix, I certainly will read the article as well.

    Thanks for sharing.
